About Guardian Assist

Technology that runs the guardianship lifecycle — so families can care for the person, not chase the paperwork.

What it is

Guardian Assist (guardianassist.org) is a software prototype for Arizona adult probate guardianship — starting in Maricopa County. It uses AI and secure automation so guardianship work gets done whenever the law allows: document intake, clerk authentication of Letters, proving authority to hospitals and agencies, compliance reminders, eFile packages, interested-party service, and change-of-address tracking.

It is not a court-adopted system and is not legally authoritative. The live site is for demonstration and feedback while we learn what families and partners need.

What it’s meant to be

Most online tools tell you what to do next. Guardian Assist is meant to operate the lifecycle — from seeking appointment through proving authority, annual compliance, and recovery when something goes wrong — with the guardian managing exceptions and the system running the rest.

  • Seeking / petitioning help (forms, steps, AI classification)
  • Verified Letters registry with scoped agent lookup and audit history
  • Provider chase, deadlines, and annual / MH reporting paths
  • eFile and interested-party service without re-typing the address book
  • Room to grow: verification cards, care history (guardian-controlled), statewide courts

How the Guardian Working Group helps

The Guardian Working Group (GWG) is a real community — people who have adult guardianship or are seeking it, plus advocates who care about that journey. Lived experience steers the product: what to build, what to drop, what to push in process and legislation.

Signing up puts you on the actual Working Group list. It does not create a Guardian Assist case and is separate from the encrypted Letters vault.
