Before you eFile a motion for more time

This brief is about filing into court (forms, service, deadlines, what the judge may ask). It is not how to be a guardian day-to-day, and not whether guardianship or a less-restrictive option is appropriate.

What you are filing. You are asking the court for more time before a deadline (often the annual report anniversary) — a short subsequent motion, not the report itself.

What the court expects

You file before the deadline passes when possible.
You can state the deadline at risk and a concrete reason (clinician delay, etc.).
Demand-for-notice and counsel may receive copies.

Service. After eFile, demand-for-notice parties and counsel on the address book get copies when email is on file.

Next step after submit. After accept, calendar the new date the court grants. An extension is not permission to ignore the underlying report forever.
